Hi Curious kids
Did you know that every year, on the 28th of November, the whole world celebrates National French Toast Day? French Toast is the perfect food to enjoy as breakfast in the morning and it is a relatively easy meal to make. The simplest way to explain French Toast is to think about it as a combination of eggs and bread.
This may be surprising to know, but French Toast does not come from France. French Toast or “pain perdu” (meaning stale or wasted bread) as the French call it, found its origins in Ancient Rome. Its popularity being from its easiness to make and affordability. Back then bread that was at least a day old was considered stale, and that stale bread was used to make French Toast.

French Toast is enjoyed in many different ways depending on the culture and country eating it. Some countries prefer to eat French Toast as a breakfast dessert. They top it with fresh fruit dripping in honey or cold cream. Other countries prefer it as a savory treat served with sizzling bacon, juicy sausages and cheese. The way you eat your French Toast doesn’t really matter as long as you have a yummy breakfast!
