Today we say good-bye and auf wiedersehen to Alexander Moolman, the Production Manager of Supernova magazine. He will be moving on to a new and exciting chapter with his wife Kerry as they grow their company Kadi, creative design solutions.
Alexander started working at BK Publishing 5 years ago. I met him at the University of Pretoria’s final year publishing exhibition where he was exhibiting his magazine concept. His concept was extremely creative and esoteric, but I could immediately see that he had a unique talent. He started as an intern, but within a month he had already volunteered to recreate our quotation and invoicing system. Alexander quickly became an integral part of the ever-changing and fluid BK Publishing team, taking on any challenge with his own brand of understated gusto.
Alexander is a true autodidact and an insatiable life-long learner. Precisely the type of person that you would want to have working for a children’s magazine which aims to instil those values in its readers.
As BK Publishing was growing, my attention was more and more divided between Preflight Books and our international projects. I relied more and more on Alexander to look after my baby, Supernova magazine. As the Production Manager of Supernova, he managed a team of writers, editors and designers, producing one excellent issue after another. He worked with over 70 interns, expecting their best work and guiding them into producing it. Over the last few months here he successfully ran our Bust the Boredom Covid 19 Lockdown program and redeveloped and designed supernovamazine.co.za.
Good-bye, for now…
Alexander has been my right-hand-man for many years and it’s sad to see him leave the team. Going forward he will still remain involved in creating content for Supernova. In the meantime, the BK Publishing team wishes him all the best and a lot of success with his new endeavours.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate all the kind words! I will miss you all at Supernova! Take care and auf Wiedershehen!
