We’re calling on you again to help sponsor another 1000 Food for Thought Packs to support Play Africa and reach Joburg City kids. But, this time it’s only R50 per pack! Read about our new urgent call or jump straight to sponsoring a pack by clicking on this link: https://pay.yoco.com/bk-publishing-pty-ltd. Alternatively, you can use the Snapscan code below.

Through the #FoodforThought campaign that we launched in May, we’ve delivered over 1560 magazines and books to over 460 families. This is thanks to your generous sponsorships and the hard work of organisations who’ve delivered packs along with Covid-19 food parcels.

Now, we’ve been approached by Play Africa who are launching an excellent initiative. We want to support it through our Food for Thought Campaign. And we need your help!

Play Africa

Play Africa is SA’s first children’s museum, situated at the iconic Constitution Hill. As all museums have been closed during lockdown they have worked on other ways to reach out to the children and families.

“One of the ways we are doing this is through our Play, Heal and Connect programme that seeks to help parents and children during this time. Most importantly to navigate this period in a way that will mitigate the negative effects this will have on children. As promoters of play we know how important play is for children as a way to make sense of the world. We also know how important literacy is to children and several of our normal programmes and exhibits look at fun ways to promote this.”

They have a sponsor for part of the packs that will include a building block toy, a printed  bag, printed materials with parenting advice as well as psycho-social support. They also want to include a Food for Though pack in each parcel.

  • We want to supply Play Africa with 1000 packs
  • About half of these will go to families in the Johannesburg inner city and Hillbrow area – through their partner schools and networks
  • The rest will go to other areas in Johannesburg where they are working with partners including Orange Farm, Brixton, and others
  • They will distribute them through schools, community partners and other NGOs who will deliver them following safe Covid 19 protocols

We’re very excited about this initiative and want to invite everyone to take part. It’s an easy way to be part of relief efforts and to make a real difference in a child’s life.
